A Japanese Edo period lacquer Tana or set of shelves

A Japanese tana or set of shelves to store the instruments of the tea ceremony with four shelves in fine black and gold lacquer.

It stands on four hoof shaped gilt and engraved brass feet.

Late Edo period , first half of the 19th century.

Length 76 cm ( 30 inches) x depth 37 cm ( 14 1/2 inches) x height 68 cm ( 27 inches)
