A French Directoire ormolu and white marble inkwell
A French Directoire period ormolu, patinated bronze and white marble inkwell, showing a young lady in a Roman dress holding flowers next to a column with ivy inscribed : "je meurs où je m’attache" ("I die where I creep") , in front of her two small baskets of flowers hide the ink and sand.
Circa 1795 – 1800.
