A pair of Venetian grotto stands






A pair of unusual Venetian neoclassical painted and parcel gilt torcheres or large tripod stands for vases or plants, the feet in the shape of palm leaves, probably for a Rococo revival grotto.

Italian , Venice circa 1830.

Height 120 cm ( 3 ft 11 inches ) x width 50 cm ( 20 inches)

 

Provenance: the collection of socialite and actress Suzy Solidor at her castle near Cagnes-sur-mer.
